I’m Gamal Adel (جمال عادل), an Egyptian PhD researcher at Leiden University specializing in network science.
My work focuses on analyzing community dynamics and movement patterns in temporal, population-scale networks using computational methods. As part of the PLANET-NL research group, I develop novel analytical methods to understand emergent patterns and self-organization in complex systems.
I also attempt to be involved in the activism movement generally described as open knowledge and collective action.
Given how much I’m facinated by complexity and emergence, it’s no wonder I’ve gravitated towards generative (not AI!) artwork. I’ve been doing it for years and even worked professionally in immersive art spaces for a while.
